Physical Attributes: Light to dark purple hues originating from the crystal base. Sometimes banded with purple and whitish lines. May also be found mixed with Citrine (Ametrine). The stone gets its colour when iron replaces silicone in the structure of the crystal through irradiation.  Amethyst can be found in various crystal forms; however, the more common varieties are points, clusters, and tumbled stones.
