Apache Tears, often referred to as Obsidianite and Marekanite, is a unique type of black obsidian that crystallised as tiny, indented stones (between 1" and 2" in size). Perlite, a mineral with a high water content that forms when water is absorbed during the cooling of lava, was generated when silica-rich lava became lodged within it.
