APOPHYLLITE
A hydrated potassium-calcium silicate mineral known as apophyllite can form druzy crystals, pyramidal structures, and cubic crystals on a matrix or with other minerals. The Greek word for "leaf" served as the inspiration for the mineral's name, which was given to it by R.J. Hauy in 1806. Because of its unusual propensity to collapse when heated, this term was chosen. Apophyllite often comes in clear or white, however it can also be found in other colours like grey, yellow, red, and green. The most uncommon colour of all, green apophyllite, was discovered a few decades ago by an Indian farmer in Poona, India. Since then, Green Apophyllite has also been discovered in Quebec, Canada, and Brazil. Locations where the common white or transparent is notable.
